Come and discover the magic of Mahón-Menorca cheese on our family guided tour of Subaida, ideal for children and curious adults.
A fantastic tour around the different facilities of our cheese factory, in a relaxed, entertaining and educational atmosphere, to discover the whole process of making the best artisan cheese in Menorca.
By way of introduction, we will give you a brief introduction to the most important facts about the farm, and then we will go to our cheese factory, where we will explain the entire production process while our master cheesemakers give you a demonstration (guided tours are the only way to see a demonstration in person).
We will also meet our protagonists: the cows, which you can find both in the cowshed and in the fields, as they are free to graze whenever they wish. Next to the cowshed is the milking parlour, which takes place twice a day: at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., which means that only during the afternoon visit is it possible to witness the milking, although the mornings, this year, also hold a few surprises...
But it's not all about listening, it's time to bottle-feed one of the calves and meet the rest of the animals that make up the Subaida farm, especially the goats, which we will feed inside their enclosure. From there we go up to the threshing floor, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of our facilities and the surrounding nature, we tell you a bit of history about the farm and the Montañés family and we go down to our small maturing/demonstration room, to learn about the treatment that the cheeses undergo from the cheese factory until they are consumed.
And as the walk will have whetted our appetites, it is time to try our products. The tasting on a tray will be served in the adjoining cellar, which has been specially prepared with tables, but due to space problems, it will be done standing up.
